A HUGE apology!

I'm really sorry I haven't uploaded any tutorials recently! I have exams for the next few weeks but I will try and upload something in the next few days :)
I hope you have had a great Christmas and a happy new year!!
I have just got a new laptop so hopefully the quality of the photos now will be much better and I can get cracking with some more great nail art designs to start 2012 off with a bang :D

How to: plain nail varnish!

Now I know this probably sounds like a really obvious thing to do, but I know that some people really struggle to paint their nails. Maybe because they don't do it very often, or because they have never been shown how to do it! So, I know I am not professional but I paint my nails every week at least 2-3 times, so I have been through the process long enough to have developed my own nail painting style. Even if you also regularly paint your nails, I hope you find something useful in this tutorial whether it's a new step you never did before or just another way of doing things!.
start off by making sure that your hands and nails are clean and dry, then use a nail file to shape the nails and remove any sharp edges.
tease the cuticles back with a smooth point. I have used the plastic part of an eye shadow sponge.
then apply a basecoat to protect the natural nail. This is ESSENTIAL as without it the nail could become stained or damaged.
then finally apply a thin coat of the polish and repeat if necessary. I have used AVON's nail-wear pro in  the green shiny colour (can't see the name on the bottom)
I really love the colour of this nail varnish and i like all of the nail-wear pro colours because they do not chip easily and they stay on for a really long time, which is good because I feel that usually even chip resistant coats come off within a day or two! if you wish you can add a topcoat to further prolong the colour but i didn't feel this nail varnish needed one because, like I said, it doesn't usually chip.
I hope this helped,
Have fun trying this at home:)

My first design!: Snowflake nails

Okay so as its christmas i thought it would be good if my first design was Chrstmas based!
Its a simple design which doesnt require very much effort and takes about 5 minutes with almost zero drying time :)
You Will Need:
A plain blue nail varnish
A silver nail varnish
A white nail varnish
Either a thin brush or a cocktail stick/wooden toothpick

Step 1: Paint your nails with one coat of a plain blue nail varnish, it doesn't matter if  it looks streaky because the
next step will hide any imperfections. I used the Miss Sporty Clubbing nails in Blue.

Step 2: Add a coat of silver on top of the blue. It's best to use a thin colour so that you can still see the blue
colour through them and it just adds a slight shine and a frosty look. I used the Rio proffesional nail art pen and brush.

Step 3: Add decoration to the nails. I have shown some examples here but you can do anything that you feel
is relevant and makes your nails look amazing. To do this i just used a thin brush to draw 3 lines in the corner of my nail and then added lines at 90 degrees to make the snowflake more intricate.

This is anther example of the design you can do. All it involves is using a small cocktail skewer and dipping it in the pot  and then randomly dotting it over the nail. It doesn't matter if they are different sizes because that is how snow is in real life.

For this snowflake I used a similar method to the first one however I just crossed 3 lines and then added the lines across. Don't worry about making it symmetrical as most people will be looking at it from a distance so only you will see.

To add the design I used the same brand nail varnish as the silver, but in white.
So that is the finished design. I hope you find it easy to recreate, if you see this and have a design that you want me to do, just let me know and I will practice them and then upload as many as i can :)

Hellloo!!!

Hi everyone,
So, this is my first blog post on this site and I basically wanted to let you know what it was all about!
I love to look at nail art and try to copy it when I see videos of it on you tube..but the people in the videos always have really long luxurious nails. I do not and a lot of the time I find that the nails just don't look as good on me because my nails are short!!!
Also waiting for a video to load when you are looking through designs and having to keep pausing the video after each stage can get annoying. By uploading blog posts in a simple layout you can view the nail design as a whole, see the steps involved and also take as much time as you need over the designs!
So my aim is to create amazing nail patterns and designs that are simple to replicate at home! I am no expert and I have never had any formal training, nail are is just something I love to do and I hope that after looking at some of my posts with nail designs on that you will also learn to make your nails look amazing!! :)
Enjoy!
